Welcome back, music lovers of The Indie-Verse! The Supernova.com Indie blog is kicking back into gear at indie-verse.com, with more groundbreaking artists you’ve never ever heard.
Like the brains behind The Indie-verse, we’re all about tracking down the best new music from across the continent – today, we’ve got something a little closer to home.
Straight out of Birmingham, Alabama, Today as Tomorrow is by far one of the more interesting artist duos we’ve come across at Supernova.com. Besides having an incredibly surreal song catalogue, their sound is both instrumentally and vocally mature, with a well-developed sense of style.
This ethereal, ambient alternative sound is a combination of Jamie Flarity and Blake Ewing’s influence, who “both sort of play whatever is necessary to get the right sounds we are going for on a particular song be it guitar, bells, drums, piano, etc.”
With a purposeful sense of whimsical escape, Today as Tomorrow wants their music to create a refuge for the audience. “We kind of would like for people to think of our music as a type of shelter. A place they can come to when they need help or just to get away from it all for a while.”
Who would you most like to tour with?
Probably a band like Sigur Ros or someone similar. Maybe we could borrow their orchestra.
What 3 pieces of advice would you give to other new artists?
1. Always be open to change (every member of every good band was at one time a member of a worse band)
2. Be good to the people who listen (and your sound guy). They’re the only reason you can do what you do… a.k.a. don’t be a douche.
3. Never let your drummer come up with the vocals, unless his name starts with Phil and ends with Collins.
