I know I know I know, everyone on earth is talking about SXSW right now, and rightfully so. There’s not many places that could successfully convince almost 2,000 acts to come to one little town, and in some cases travel more than 8,000 miles just to play in a musty pub. For that, I credit the bands that keep the music scene in Austin thriving for the other 360 days a year. And so while everyone out there is talking about the next big New York, or British, or Japanese Ginsu-Surf-Rock-Shoegaze band that’s going to get found down there, I wanted to make sure we give credit where credit’s due. So this show was all about the music that makes Austin what it is. I remember the closings of some really cool venues from when I lived there (Lucy’s, Liberty Lunch…anyone?) and every time I go back I feel like half the town is redeveloped, but I’m glad that the live music that made Austin great doesn’t seem to have been lost along the way. Anyway, here’s the music, happy SXSW’ing, don’t forget to post your reviews of the shows you see if you’re down there this weekend…I think that robot centaur up there is getting pissed.

It’s always tough when you have so many great options to cram it all into just an hour, Explosions in the Sky was definitely up to bat for the show and I just couldn’t fit em in.
As for Low Line Caller, I’m chewing on some of their stuff now, thanks for the tip!
